I wish America were a place where good sense and charity prevailed, so that this would have shocked me. Unfortunately, I'm not shocked. It was as predictable as could be. Maybe I'm a little disappointed it's happening so soon.
Tonight we were at a friend's house for dinner. She said she has been getting emails from a common acquaintance, a lifer in the Air Force, warning everyone that Barack Obama is really a Muslim, and that his candidacy is part of a conspiracy to turn the United States into a Muslim nation.
Well, at the very least, he did say he was going to talk to the "President of Canada"... :P

Ah, yes. The classic FWD: FWD: FWD: jackassery. I got one from a friend a couple of years ago and posted my rebuttal on my blog, though I doubt she ever read it as this sort of mindless email hysteria involves little effort or thought. Here's the link to the post...

It may be the usual FWD:FWD bs, but I smell Karl Rove's style in this. If he didn't set it in motion before he quit, someone who watched him and learned did. Maybe I'm a conspiracy nut too, but I suspect a deliberate scaremongering campaign from the right.
